We are looking for a PhD candidate (Akademische/r Mitarbeiter/in; all genders) in the field of natural language processing (large language models, multimodal language processing).
Large language models (LLMs) have revolutionized the field of natural language processing in the last year. In an EU-funded collaborative project, we will focus on using LLMs to support the communication between humans. For this project, we are looking for a PhD candidate (Akademische/r Mitarbeiter/in). The project is related to the following research areas: deep learning, large Language models, multimodal models, machine translation, speech translation, summarization, digital assistants. The project offers the opportunity to collaborate with leading speech processing teams from academic and industry.
Who are we?
The research group "Artificial Intelligence for Language Technologies (AI4LT)" at the Institute of Anthropomatics and Robotics (IAR) develops language technologies that use AI to enable natural human-machine communication, as well as to break down communication barriers between people. We have a strong track record of developing state-of-the-art speech translation systems, as evidenced by multiple winning submissions at international evaluation campaigns. We also contribute to the KIT Lecture Translator, which leverages advanced speech processing and translation technologies to deliver real-time translations for lectures. Our lab has strong connections with industry partners in the broad field of NLP.
Who are you?
- You have (or will soon have) a master's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline.
- You have strong programming skills to prototype research ideas.
- Previous experience in deep learning is a plus.
- High proficiency in English is a must for communication with our international colleagues and partners.
